A bird in hand

A bird in hand is better than two in the bush(一鸟在手胜过双鸟在林). This is a saying to tell us to treasure what we have and stop thinking the grass is greener on the other side. It is not easy to do it in our real life. Maybe because humen nature, we are greedy. When we get something, we want more, never satisfied with what we already had. As a result, we so often take what we have for granted. Until one day, we lose it and then we realize how much it means to us.

On the other hand, being not satisfied with what we have is what keep us trying to improve ourselves and things around us. It is not a bad thing, but to keep the balance of feeling gradeful for what we had and pursuing improvement in our life is not easy. It is always a life long lesson for me.

what makes me think about this saying is that I found the photo when organizing my photos in my file. It is a great experience to have a bird in your hand, they are not pets, they just being so used to keep close contact with human being. It is wonderful to see animals and human can share the environment so peacefully with trust and love. This is one thing I really love about Canada.

Red-winged Blackbird
