Labor Day Long Weekends

The last long weekends for this summer is around the corner. I'm going camping. All the reserved camp sites are already full booked, so we have no choices but try our luck for the first come first serve camp sites. Cross my fingers!

Deas Island

Today I went to Deas Island for a company BBQ. This is the first time I have been there. It is so beautiful, quiet and nice. Surrounded by the Fraser River and Deas Slough, it is a small island, I think it is perfect place to hike. Unfortunally, cycling is not permitted or I think around half an hour I can bike around the island. It is black berry harvest season. Both yesterday in Burnaby lake and today on the island, I saw people picking black berries. It must be fun to do this with the kids. (I'm not very crazy about black berries.) :-)

Busy week

Last week has been a busy week to me. Work hard so I play hard on the weekends :-) Yesterday is a special day. I went with a group of friend to the Burnaby Lake. Spend around 3 hours to walk around the lake. I have never been walking for this long of distance ( over 10km) just for the sake of walking. It is a great experience. I'm really enjoy the conversation with my new friend Yukari.

In the evening, for the first time I visit the River Rock Casino. I'm not into gambling, but I love to see what Casinos look like in Canada. I found it is not much difference than the one I saw in Malaysia.

Bike ride

It is a nice day today. I went on a bike ride with a group of new friends. Started from Queen Elizabeth Park, went east along 37 Av. all the way to Gladstone, then north past Trout Lake. It is very nice to see the other side of the lake, I think I will go there again sometimes. We tried the Gelato - Italian ice cream near Commercial Drive and 1st. We headed west along 1st Ave. until Woodland to south, then turned west on 10th until Ontario St. south again to QE Park to end of trip. I'm so proud of myself that I can make it without asking them to wait for me( one hill is really tough for me, I definally need to work out more often). probably they did wait for me without letting me notice. :P They are very nice. Looking forward to go biking with them again soon.

My nephew's favorite site

http://www.pobaby.net/, very cute site.
Thursday night I watched a cartoon with him there online. It is an amazing feeling that we could watch his favorite cartoon together even though we are in different continents. We were using QQ to chat, he counted 1, 2, 3, then we pushed the "Play" button at the same time. But he still found out mine was slower than his because I push the button after him. He is so cute.

funny video

http://www.coolbuddy.com/videos/video_clip.asp?id=98 Always admire people actually take time to record the moment either on tape or in their mind. These babies are so cute, but they were babies only once. Same as us, the moment we have now is only here once. When it is passed, it is gone forever. So all of us, ENJOY THIS MOMENT!

Africa

This summer I was going to plan a trip to volunteer in Africa. I failed because the airfare is too expensive. Also I was hoping to go with someone I know. It is kind of scary to go by myself. I hope I can make it next year. http://www.cadip.org/volunteer-in-togo.htm

The reason I chose "life long learning" as my blog title is that I believe learning never stop. We learn from everybody around us every day. I'm a Montessori teacher. I teach children and I learn a lot from them at the same time. I hope I can share some experience of teaching and learning with my friends online.
I love traveling. I think it is a great way to learn. And I hope I can teach around the world some day as return. :-) The picture above was taken on the silk road in north west China.

Hi everybody, My name is Christine. I'm from Vancouver, Canada. I'm new to the blog and still figuring out how to build my blog.
